STATEMENT BY CRAIG W. FLOYD ON
COP HATER “SNOOP DOGG” PERFORMING AT SUPER BOWL
McLean, VA (February 9, 2022) – Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL have disgraced themselves and greatly dishonored America’s law enforcement professionals by inviting Snoop Dogg, a vocal and dangerous cop hater, to be the featured performer in this Sunday’s Super Bowl half-time show.
Less than a month after our nation mourned when two New York City police officers, Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora, were shot and killed during a brutal ambush attack, the NFL will be entertaining us with a headliner who has famously rapped, “All you n***as out there, Take your guns that you using to shoot each other And start shooting these b***h-ass mother-f**king police. That’ll impress a mother-f**king n***a like me.” (From the song, “Police,” by Snoop Dogg & J5 Slap.)
This is just a small sample of the anti-law enforcement hatred that Snoop Dogg has spewed over many years. Anyone, young children included, can go to YouTube and see Snoop Dogg performing a cover version of N.W.A.’s hit song, “F**k the Police.” The words to the song are pretty simple. He repeats the title over and over while holding his crotch in a courtroom filled with police officers. Over the last few months, this video has received 42,385 views.
Goodell, the NFL and all others associated with the Super Bowl need to understand that words matter. When giving acknowledged cop-haters like Snoop Dogg the attention and privilege that comes with a Super Bowl half-time performance, they are legitimizing and encouraging hatred toward law enforcement.
During the first month of this year, at least 30 officers were shot—five fatally.
All of that cop-hatred has made the difficult job of policing all the more dangerous. Last year, 458 law enforcement officers in our country died in the line of duty—the highest number of fatalities ever recorded in a single year. Sixty-one of those officers were shot and killed, a 36 percent increase over the prior year. According to the National Fraternal Order of Police, 130 law enforcement officers were shot in ambush-style attacks last year—30 of those officers died. During the first month of this year, at least 30 officers were shot—five fatally.

There are now more than 22,000 names of fallen heroes on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. But it is hypocritical for our nation to build a monument to our fallen law enforcement heroes and mourn their deaths, while at the same time condoning and glorifying those who are preaching hatred toward the men and women protecting and serving our communities—the same men and women who will be risking their lives this Sunday protecting Goodell, Snoop Dogg and the 100,000 others attending the Super Bowl.
