Pioneers of Faith - Introduction
Hebrews 11 is considered the hall of fame of faith.
They who know their God shall gain strength and do great exploits. (Dan. 11:32)
God never leaves us without a testimony
God never leaves us in the midst of a trial or tribulation.
Seek me and you will find me... in any situation or circumstance. (Jer. 29:13)
Isaiah 5 – the prophet was only saying what he was seeing
Isaiah 6:3 - He sees the Lord and hears that the earth is full of His glory.
Here am I send me!
Jesus’ GO is our sending. To be the conduit of His Glory, His life
Is. 60:1-2 - Deep darkness covers the earth, but the glory has risen on us...
This is what we encounter in Hebrews 11
God intervened in the worst of conditions through insurmountable odds and delivered through the lives of the common man or women.
How? By two words, “By Faith”
They heard, they saw and stepped out in accordance with what they heard and saw. Jesus would later call this greater works
Hebrews 11 are saints who encountered God and moved mountains as Jesus told us to do in Mark 11:23-24
Hebrews 11 – The God of Covenant backing up His word.
Tonight, we launch a new series “Pioneers of Faith”
Men and women of the last 100 years or so who did great exploits, those who dared to believe God and trust in His covenant promises.
If our theology is not relational, encountering then what’s all this about?
The OT they saw God
The NT they saw Jesus
The Epistles to today we see the Holy Spirit.
The Godhead is always moving in our midst.
Abraham heard a voice
Moses saw a burning bush
Many encountered angelic beings
And prophets spoke what they heard and moved in the miraculous.
Hebrews 11:6 – pleasing God is moving in faith; faith comes by hearing (encountering) God.
